Sangeeta Ahir to distribute Ajay Devgn-Emraan Hashmi starrer Baadshaho : Bollywood News

The Ajay Devgn-Emraan Hashmi starrer Baadshaho has generated a lot of excitement thanks to its teaser and action element. Also, it marks the coming together of Ajay, Emraan and director Milan Luthria after the immensely successful 2010 crime drama Once Upon A Time in Mumbaai. Baadshaho is all set to have a grand release on September 1 and now it has emerged that ManglMurti Films, owned by Sangeeta Ahir, will be distributing the film.

ManglMurti Films have made a mark in Bollywood after producing Apne in 2007, starring Sunny Deol, Bobby Deol and Dharmendra, Subhash Kapoor’s 2015 comedy Guddu Rangeela, starring Arshad Warsi and Amit Sadh, and Madhur Bhandarkar’s Calendar Girls, which also released in the same year. They have also forayed into Marathi cinema, having produced crime thriller Daagdi Chawl and presented a film on yesteryear actor Bhagwan Dada, Ekk Albela. Speaking to Bollywood Hungama exclusively, the head honcho Sangeeta Ahir said, “We were very clear from the start that we want to make our company into a studio setup. Hence, we always wanted to get into distribution. I believe that we should be in all those areas where money could be generated. We had already distributed Kannada film Jaggu Dada and Hollywood biggie Batman v Superman: Dawn of Justice in the past. With Baadshaho, things just fell into place and we are very thankful to Bhushan ji (producer Bhushan Kumar) for this opportunity.”

Talking about release plans, she added, “We are going to release Baadshaho in 3000 screens. It is a massy film and a solo release. Hence, the wide release.”

Talking about her other big release of the year, Golmaal Again, Sangeeta revealed, “The shooting of this film is going on in Mehboob Studios in Mumbai after which the team will move to Hyderabad. It’s a special film and it’s releasing at a great time, during the festival of Diwali.” She however added that she is merely producing the film. “Golmaal Again will be distributed by Reliance Entertainment.” This comic caper is the fourth part of the Golmaal franchise. Directed by Rohit Shetty, it stars Ajay Devgn, Arshad Warsi, Parineeti Chopra, Kunal Kemmu and Shreyas Talpade.

Speaking about future plans, Sangeeta elaborated, “We are reading scripts and we’ll soon finalize our next projects. But from now on, we’ll simultaneously produce as well as distribute films.”

While signing off, Sangeeta shared an interesting piece of trivia about herself. “I am the only women distributor in the industry today,” she smiled.
