Sam Bahadur’s teaser was launched today with a lot of fanfare at a multiplex in Mumbai. The film releases in cinemas on December 1, the same day as Ranbir Kapoor-starrer Animal. The team of Sam Bahadur was asked about this aspect at the event.

Producer Ronnie Screwvala said, “We announced the release date almost a year back, on December 1, 2022.”

He continued, “Clashes toh purani baat ho gayi. You don’t look at that in real life. Today, when Flipkart and Amazon will have billion-dollar days on the same day, people want to consume and spend even more. Hence, it’s a very old-world thinking. (During clashes), audiences come out more. They like multiplicity of choices. Today, everyone is clashing, with Instagram, with Netflix etc.”

Vicky Kaushal was asked about clashing with his Sanju (2018) co-star Ranbir Kapoor. Vicky stated, “That Friday, we both are going to hand over the film to the audience. It will be the day of the audience more than our day. Like Ronnie very correctly put out, in today’s times, we as an industry should give the option of multiple films on the same day to the audience. That’s how we are going to flourish as an industry. We have limited weeks in a year. As an industry, we can’t limit ourselves from making only those many films in a year. Hence, we will have multiple releases on the same day.”

Vicky Kaushal continued, “We have got to build an atmosphere wherein multiple films can work together. We have that strength as an audience, and we have that strength at the exhibitor level. So, why not? We need to push that envelope also. With today’s scenario and the excitement that audience has, if both the films are good, both can work. Hence, I am as excited for Animal as anybody else.”
