Cricket and films are the two things we Indians are crazy about. Cricketers and actors are treated as demi-Gods, and with these two forces joining hands, we are all in for a big treat. Celebrity Cricket League (CCL) which appealed the film and cricket lovers in its first season is now back with its second edition.
Salman Khan, Sonakshi Sinha and Kangna Ranaut were in Dubai on November 12, 2011 to divulge details of the CCL matches. The Bodyguard star revealed the line-up of Mumbai Heroes along with its brand ambassadors Kangna and Sonakshi at a glitzy function.
CCL is similar to the Indian Premier League in style and will see film fraternities from across India participating. Season 1 had six teams representing the six different regional film industries in India. Mumbai Heroes owned by Sohail Khan and captained by Suniel Shetty, Chennai Rhinos lead by South superstar Surya, Karnataka Bulldozers by Kiccha Sudeep and skipper Venkates leads Telugu Warriors. Season 2 will introduce two new teams- Kerala Strikers co-owned by National Award winner Mohanlal (also the team captain), ace director Priyadarshan and his wife Lizzy and Bengal Tigers owned by Boney Kapoor. With the inclusion of two more teams there’s a slight change in the format as well.
An 18-match event with six-teams competing in six different venues for the title, the CCL brings together the best of the various Indian film industries. The first match of the CCL will be held on January 13, 2012 at the Sharjah Cricket Stadium. The Mumbai Heroes will play two games in two days after the opening ceremony
Though Salman Khan will not play any match this season due to medical reasons, he will be seen cheering the Mumbai Heroes. Salman is undaunted by his team’s average performance in the earlier season. He told the media, “I like the spirit of Mumbai Heroes. We lost last season, but won the hearts of millions.”
