Salim Khan was recently featured in the docu-series Angry Young Men, which explored his career alongside his close aide Javed Akhtar. The series also offered a glimpse into his personal life, highlighting his relationships with his wives, Salma Khan and Helen. Salim Khan was first married to Salma Khan, and later, he fell in love with actress Helen and married her. Over the years, the filmmaker has been candid about his relationships with his two wives and the family dynamics, sharing that although it was challenging for everyone initially, they eventually learned to get along.

In an interview with DNA, Salim Khan expressed, “I’m lucky that I have two wives and that they live in harmony. Never mind if that happened a few years later. My wives are good-looking and now they are ageing gracefully.”

In an interview with Zoom, Salim Khan discussed how he informed Salma Khan and his children about his relationship with Helen. He shared that he was the first to tell Salma before she learned about it through the media. Salim Khan recalled, “When I told her, she didn’t shake hands with me and told me what a wonderful thing I was doing. Of course, we had problems, but for a very short time. After that, everything was accepted.”

Talking about his children’s reaction, he explained that they were too young to fully grasp the situation. He added, “I told them, ‘I have got another person in my life. I have married her. I do not expect anything from you. I don’t expect you to love her as much as you love your mother, but I want you to give her the same respect.’”

In one episode of the docu-series, Arbaaz Khan shared, “My mother never influenced us to think or say anything against our father. She had her troubles, but she never influenced us to think, ‘Your dad is like this,’ or, ‘This is what he is doing.’ Never.”

Salim Khan married Salma Khan in 1960, and the couple had four children: Salman Khan, Arbaaz Khan, Sohail Khan, and Alvira Khan Agnihotri. In the 1980s, Salim Khan married actress Helen and later adopted Arpita Khan.
