Actor Nyrraa Banerji has revealed that she consciously turned down an offer to play a negative lead in Naagin 7, stating that she no longer wants to take up villainous roles on television.
In a recent conversation with Bollywood Hungama, Nyrraa said that while she has explored grey shades in the past, she now prefers to headline shows as a positive lead. “In TV, I have this reservation. If an opportunity comes to me, it has to come for a positive lead,” she said. She added that she was approached for a negative role in Naagin 7 but declined the offer.
The actor had earlier played the titular role in Pishachini, a negative character that placed her at the centre of the narrative. However, she clarified that despite the character’s dark shades, it was still the primary role of the show. “The hero of the show was me. The name of the show was on me,” she explained.
Apart from fiction television, Nyrraa also expressed a growing interest in the reality space, but with a shift in perspective. Having previously participated in shows like Bigg Boss 18 and Khatron Ke Khiladi 13, she said she now sees herself moving beyond being a contestant. Instead, the actor shared that she would prefer to host a reality show in the future. According to her, hosting would allow her to bring out her personality more confidently and maintain a stronger, more authoritative on-screen presence rather than being part of the competition format.
With experience across films, television, OTT and reality programming, Nyrraa emphasised that she is being selective about her next move. For now, she remains open to projects that position her centrally and align with the direction she envisions for her career.
