Ronit Roy recalls Hrithik Roshan’s objection to being called “Sir” on Kaabil sets; says, “There was no ego” : Bollywood News

In a recent interview, veteran actor Ronit Roy reminisced about his time working with Hrithik Roshan on the 2017 film Kaabil. Roy revealed that he initially addressed Hrithik as "sir" on set, considering their hierarchical relationship. However, this formal approach didn't sit well with Hrithik, who preferred a more informal dynamic.

"I was cast in a film where he is the star, so you don't really know what to do, so you take the safe route. So I said, 'Good morning, sir.' He is the lead of the film so the safest way is to call him sir," Roy explained to Lehren Retro.

The next day, Hrithik summoned Roy to his van, expressing his discomfort with the "sir" address. "He said, 'Ronit, I have a problem with you. I said tell me sir... He said this is the problem,'" Roy recalled.

Hrithik further explained that being addressed as "sir" hindered their ability to connect as friends. "He said, 'You are calling me sir. This doesn't work with me. I find it difficult to be a friend if you're calling me sir all the time. You call me Duggu. You used to call me Duggu earlier. Why are you suddenly calling me sir?'"

Roy commended Hrithik's openness and appreciated his willingness to address the issue directly. "He said, 'I don't like it.' That was wonderful. There was no ego," Roy remarked.

Speaking of the film, Ronit played the antagonist in Kaabil. The film also stars Yami Gautam. Currently, Hrithik is awaiting the release of his next film, Fighter. The film, which will be his third project with director Siddharth Anand, is slated to release in January 2024.
