Rohit Roy on Ronit Roy’s dark phase, “It was a volatile phase for him because there was no work” : Bollywood News

Ronit Roy has been a prolific actor in both films and television since over three decades. The actor has carved a niche for himself and, most importantly, hasn’t got stereotyped in any particular role. However, there was once a time when he was going through a dark and depressing phase in his career. Ronit’s brother and actor Rohit Roy spoke about this period the former faced once.

In an interview with Siddharth Kannan, Rohit revealed, “The phase that he (Ronit) was going through, it was just me with him, there was no one else. It was a very volatile phase for him. It was volatile because there was no work. Industry had rejected him. His friends would tell me ‘Rohit, you are a star on TV, but your brother won’t make it’.”

After making his debut with a film titled Bank Robbery, Ronit achieved fam with the love story Jaan Tere Naam in 1992. The super-hit song from the film, ‘Akkha India Jaanta Hai’ also had become an anthem back then. However, after a few more films, success deserted Ronit. But his career saw a positive turn with the hit TV shows Kyunki Saas Bhi Kabhi Bahu Thi and Kasauti Zindagi Kay.

Although Rohit is his younger brother, he had to be his elder brother during that phase. Rohit added, “I was his older brother. People who see him now don’t remember that phase. Because his film audience… they went away with the film. The viewers he gained after Kasautii, they don’t know about his struggle. For them, Ronit Roy is Rishabh Bajaj (his character from Kasauti Zindagi Kay).”

Ronit Roy and Rohit Roy acted together in the Hrithik Roshan starrer Kaabil (2017). Interestingly, both the brothers played negative roles in the movie.
