Filmmaker Karan Johar returns to direction with Rocky Aur Rani Kii Prem Kahaani starring Ranveer Singh and Alia Bhatt in the lead roles. With a week left for its release in theatres, the makers are leaving no stone unturned for its promotions. However, in recent case, a cross promotion has sort of begun in Bollywood much like the Hollywood phenomenon Barbieheimer – an event of two movies Barbie and Oppenheimer which released today in cinemas.

A day ago, makers of Ayushmann Khurrana starrer Dream Girl 2 unveiled a brand-new promo where we witness an exchange between the character Pooja from Dream Girl 2 and Rocky from Karan Johar movie. Pooja finds herself engaged in a rib-tickling conversation with the enigmatic Rocky over a captivating phone call. Elated and amused seeing the conversation, Karan Johar also took to his Instagram to share the brand new promo and said, “A prem kahaani in alternate universe. See you in the cinemas #DreamGirl #RockyAurRaniKiiPremKahaani.”

Much like the Hollywood where Tom Cruise posted pictures of his tickets to Barbie and Oppenheimer ahead of his mega release Mission: Impossible – Dead Reckoning Part One, it led to the cast of the other two releases also post pictures with cinema tickets. They have been very appreciative of the other releases in theatres and this has definitely started a trend.

Well, with Karan Johar’s push to Dream Girl 2 whilst he awaits Rocky Aur Rani Kii Prem Kahaani’s release in theatres, this will surely bring a welcome change in the film industry as cross promotions may excite the moviegoers and boost the box office. This could very well be the start in Bollywood as tentpole films are set to release in theatres in the second half of 2023.

Viacom18 Studios and Dharma Productions present A Dharma Productions film, Rocky Aur Rani Kii Prem Kahaani, produced by Hiroo Yash Johar, Karan Johar, and Apoorva Mehta is all set to hit the big screen on 28th July, 2023.
