Rishi talks about working with brother Randhir, son Ranbir & Agneepath : Bollywood News

It's been a historic season for Rishi. He shot his first film with his brother Randhir Kapoor, then his first ad with son Ranbir.

About his brother, Rishi says, "Dabboo had directed me in Henna. Earlier I was his assistant on Kal Aaj Aur Kal. Dabboo has been always been close to me. He has a great sense of comic timing. So it was great to share the comic space with him in Housefull 2. I wanted to be in a film that was a franchise. Housefull is a hugely funny and successful franchise. It's over-the-top comedy. Let audiences see me as a bad man in Agneepath and an absolute moron in Housefull."

Rishi had first turned down the role in Agneepath. "I felt I couldn't carry off the badman's role. But both the Karans (director Malhotra and producer Johar) insisted. I felt if it didn't work I'd be blamed for not being convincing in a villain's role. I did a looks test for the first time in my career. They said, not needed. I insisted. The part is dicey. Sanjay Dutt is the main villain but my character too is a prominent influence on the plot. It was great challenge. I am trying to look different in all my films these days."

Yes, Rishi and his son have just shot a commercial for Pepsi. Talking about that, Rishi says, "I was nervous, more for my son than myself. He has a great confidence-level. If he was nervous he didn't show it. Both of us were being professionals. The typical father roles that I don't do in real life, I've done in the ad. In fact it has been a momentous season for me."

Rishi is proud to carry the Raj Kapoor legacy forward. "There's a whole street in Toronto named after him. There was also retrospect of his films for a whole month in Canada. He's remembered through his films even now. Sadly I don't see the RK Films banner being revived in the near future. Ranbir has ambitions of doing so. But he's very busy as an actor."

Rishi says he's learning from his son. "Nowadays I don't ask the film's budget alone. I also want to know if they have the budget for marketing. I want to work with banners that have the budget to put a film out properly."
