REVEALED: Sajid Nadiadwala requested Ektaa R Kapoor not to release Dream Girl 2 on the same day as Satyaprem Ki Katha 2 : Bollywood News

Yesterday, it came to light that Dream Girl 2, which was supposed to release on June 29, 2023, has been scheduled for an earlier release. Produced by Ektaa R Kapoor, the comic caper will now release on June 23. As a result, Sajid Nadiadwala’s Satyaprem Ki Katha, starring Kartik Aaryan and Kiara Advani, which is also scheduled to arrive in cinemas on June 29, will now enjoy a solo release.

While several reports claimed that Dream Girl 2’s producers advanced the release date as they wanted to avoid a clash with Satyaprem Ki Katha, Bollywood Hungama has found out that it’s not true.

A source told Bollywood Hungama, “It was Sajid Nadiadwala who called Ektaa and requested her not to release Dream Girl 2 on the same day as Satyaprem Ki Katha. On hearing his plea, Ektaa immediately and graciously agreed to prepone the date of Dream Girl 2 from June 29 to June 23. Very rarely do we see producers making way for each other but Ektaa R Kapoor, who is known for her rock-solid friendships, came forward in support of her old friend and producer, Sajid Nadiadwala.”

Satyaprem Ki Katha is directed by Sameer Vidwans and besides Nadiadwala Grandson Entertainment, it is also produced by Shareen Mantri Kedia and Kishor Arora's Namah Pictures. Dream Girl 2, meanwhile, is the sequel to the very successful Dream Girl (2019). Like the first part, the sequel is also directed by Raaj Shaandilyaa. Ayushmann Khurrana reprises the role from the original and this time, he’s joined by Ananya Panday. As per reports, the shoot of the film is underway in Mumbai at present.

Bollywood Hungama, in July 2021, was the first one to break the news that the makers are working on a sequel to Dream Girl 2. On September 16, 2022, a quirky and funny announcement video was dropped by the makers which confirmed that the sequel indeed is being made.
