Anees Bazmee is on cloud nine now that his directorial Mubarakan has hit the theatres this week. Amidst all the hoopla, the filmmaker revealed an interesting scoop about the film wherein he reportedly stated that he choreographed a song in the film.
The song in question is a popular track titled ‘Baari Barsi Khatan Gaya Si’, which is being used in the film during the engagement sequence between Arjun Kapoor and Ileana D’Cruz. According to reports, Anees Bazmee maintained that he always wanted to choreograph this song because of its emotional sequence and also because it represents celebrations. He also added that it felt like the story was progressing along with the song.
Furthermore talking about the song, Anees also appreciated the onscreen chemistry of real life uncle-nephew pair Anil Kapoor – Arjun Kapoor who according to him synchronized their steps quite well. In fact, he even asked them for suggestions and how they would like to visualize the dance keeping the mood of the song before putting forth his ideas. He called their final take for the dance as a ‘dance riot’ adding that they had great tuning.
What Anees Bazmee also recalled was how he choreographed Vinod Khanna for his film Hulchul which was his first film. While he also said that he has often suggested and changed steps in some of his films, he doesn’t believe it to be a big achievement. He also asserted that he wouldn’t want to consider choreography seriously and enjoys his role as a writer and filmmaker.
As for the film Mubarakan, it stars Arjun Kapoor in a double role along with Anil Kapoor, Ileana D’Cruz, Athiya Shetty and released worldwide on July 28.
