The actor shares a striking coincidence from Lucknow ahead of starring alongside Ranbir Kapoor, Yash and Sai Pallavi in Nitesh Tiwari’s epic.

Nitesh Tiwari’s ambitious two-part epic Ramayana continues to generate significant buzz as it brings together a formidable ensemble led by Ranbir Kapoor as Ram, Sai Pallavi as Sita, Yash as Raavan and Sunny Deol as Hanuman. Among the key characters in the mythological saga is Lakshman, portrayed by Ravie Dubey, who recently opened up about an unusual coincidence that preceded his casting in the film.

Ravie Dubey, known for his work across television and film as well as his production ventures under Dreamiyata Entertainment, is set to take on the pivotal role of Lakshman in the large-scale adaptation. Reflecting on the journey, he recalled a moment from nearly a year before he was finalised for the project that now feels particularly significant.

Sharing the incident, Ravie said, “Around a year before I got locked for the film, I was shooting in Lucknow. And we were doing this kind of guerrilla kind of shoot. I was on a bike, and my heroine was sitting behind me, and we were just kind of taking rounds of the street. At one point, I think I was on the phone with my director, and my director called cut, so we just kind of parked the motorcycle there and were waiting for the next command. I turned around and I see there’s a temple. It was a temple of Lakshman.”

He further described visiting the temple and offering prayers. “I had never known there was one. And it was only at that time that I realized that Lucknow was actually Lakshmanpuri. As the story goes, it was given to Lord Lakshman, if I’m not wrong, by Shri Ram himself. It never really dawned on me and I was so gravitated to go into that temple. So I go into the temple, folded my hands and offered my respects. There’s an image of Lord Ram, Sita, and Lakshman there, the classic trio image. I sat there, offered my respects, and came out. I clicked this image.”

Ravie added, “Incidentally, that show, my character’s name was Lakhan. It was called Lakhan Leela Bhargav. It was these incredible synchronicities. And then when I got locked in my timeline, that image came and I realized I had completely forgotten about this. Almost exactly a year later, after visiting that temple, I was cast as Lakshman in the film.”

Directed by Nitesh Tiwari and produced by Prime Focus Studios in association with DNEG and Yash’s Monster Mind Creations, Ramayana will release globally in IMAX, with Part 1 slated for Diwali 2026 and Part 2 for Diwali 2027.
