Raveena Tandon opens up on nepotism; says, “You are the audience, if you don’t want to watch them, then don’t”

Raveena Tandon talks about nepotism in her interview.

When Raveena Tandon adopted Pooja and Chaya as a single mother, she was in her early 20s. In a recent interview, Raveena explained that since there was no option for single parents to adopt children in 1995, she was forced to take on the role of the girls' legal guardian.

She told Bollywood Bubble, “At that time, adoption was not even allowed. Single mothers adopting was not legally allowed so I became my children’s guardian. I had both the girls with me and the only option at that time was to take legal guardianship which I did. And I’m very grateful because more than anything else, I find these my achievements, when I see my girls.”

She further added, “When I see my two girls grown up, successful in their lives, careers, and marriages with their children, I feel a sense of pride. When I see the orphanage that I built in Vasai for those 30 girls thriving and them increasing their dormitories, and batches moving out from there and growing up, getting into jobs, that gives me pride.”

It is rumoured that Aaman Devgn, the nephew of Ajay Devgn, and Raveena’s daughter Rasha will soon make their Bollywood debut. When asked about the prevalence of nepotism in the film industry, Raveena responded, “our kids will obviously learn what they see and if they have that in their bloodstream, if they have talent and if they have art in their bloodstream, I’m not going to tell her ‘no, sorry you cannot live your dreams, you have to become a NASA scientist.’ I can’t tell her that, right?”

“Children have to follow their dreams and what they want to do”. She insisted that the film industry is “brutal for our kids”. “There is, in fact, so much more pressure because of the fact that if they have no talent you will make one film for them. You are the audience, if you don’t want to watch them, then don’t. Audience is king. They will tell you whether you are worth being here or not,” asserted Raveena.

Raveena also claimed that the audience had turned away several filmy kids, “They have to go through much more pressure because they have to live up to a certain expectation also. It’s even tougher for them.”

On the work front, Raveena was last seen in KGF: Chapter 2. Next, she has Ghudchadi alongside Sanjay Dutt and Arbaaz Khan’s Patna Shukla.
