Raveena Tandon reveals why she didn’t do ‘Chaiyya Chaiyya’; says, “It was very easy to get stereotyped” : Bollywood News

Bollywood actress Raveena Tandon has given several versatile performances throughout her career. However, the actress had rejected the iconic song ‘Chaiyya Chaiyya’ from Dil Se which went on to win hearts of hearts of people and continues to do so.

Raveena Tandon reveals why she didn’t do ‘Chaiyya Chaiyya’; says, “It was very easy to get stereotyped”

Raveena said in an interview with Bollywood Bubble that she was given the song soon after her Rakshak song, ‘Sheher Ki Ladki’, became popular. She said, “In those days it was very easy to get stereotyped. For example, how many people would know that I left a song like ‘Chaiyya Chaiyya’ because I had just done ‘Sheher Ki Ladki’ and after that, I started getting offered only item songs.”

She further added, “And then, it became a norm that if Raveena is there, then there has to be a superhit song, and which I am very grateful for because till date, people also know me for my superhit songs, all of them are getting remixes, they are getting a new life, it’s all working out very well.”

Not just Raveena, but Shilpa Shetty also turned down the song when it was offered to her. In the end, Malaika Arora was the one to sign the dance number. Farah Khan spoke about it in 2019 at the International Film Festival Of India (IFFI) in Goa and said, “We had approached Shilpa (Shetty) to Raveena (Tandon), a lot of actors but no one did it. Malaika did the song and became a star after that.”

‘Chaiyya Chaiyya’ from the 1998 film Dil Se, featured Malaika Arora and Shah Rukh Khan dancing on top of a moving train. The song was composed by A.R. Rahman and written by Gulzar, and it became a massive hit in India and abroad.

On the work front, Raveena was last seen in KGF: Chapter 2. Next, she has Ghudchadi alongside Sanjay Dutt and Arbaaz Khan’s Patna Shukla.
