Actor Randeep Hooda recently addressed his experience with award recognition for his role in the 2016 biographical film Sarbjit. In an interview with Siddharth Kannan, Hooda discussed the dominance of his co-star Aishwarya Rai Bachchan in terms of awards received for the film.

While acknowledging his initial disappointment, Hooda spoke about the importance of artistic fulfilment over awards. "Firstly, as an artist, if you are gauging your worth on the basis of how many awards you’ve won, it’s not going to be very helpful," he stated. He expressed his genuine happiness for Aishwarya’s success while acknowledging the potential negativity of dwelling on his own lack of recognition. "To now complain that I deserved it more would be unbecoming. If people say it, that’s a victory in itself.," he admitted.

Hooda further elaborated, "I’ve never indulged in this kind of talk, because it would seem like a case of sour grapes. Did I feel bad? Of course I did. But it’s not like the world ended. You move on to the next thing." He highlighted the importance of maintaining self-confidence as an actor, stating that relying on external validation could be detrimental. “But as an actor and filmmaker, if I give others this much control about my own self-image, I would’ve been done a long time ago,” he concluded.

Speaking of the professional front, Randeep is currently seen in a biopic of Vinayak Damodar Savarkar, which received a lukewarm response from critics and audiences upon release last month. The film also marked his directorial debut. Besides him, it also features popular TV actress and former Bigg Boss contestant Ankita Lokhande.
