Actor Ranbir Kapoor recently opened up about the responsibility of portraying Lord Ram in the upcoming epic Ramayana during an interaction with audiences at a special event in New York. The conversation took place as part of the film’s international promotional rollout following the unveiling of its first glimpse to select viewers in the United States.

Responding to a question about how he approached a role of such scale while keeping the performance grounded and human, the actor spoke about relying on honesty and responsibility as guiding principles in his preparation.
He said, “I think where creation is concerned... because I come from world of creativity. I don't really take any pressure of his impression or my impression. But I think as an actor, my Dharma is to do my job in the best way possible with honesty & truthfulness.”

Kapoor acknowledged the expectations attached to the role and emphasised that he viewed the opportunity as a responsibility rather than pressure. Referencing a well-known Sanskrit phrase from Indian scriptures, he explained how it shaped his outlook while working on the film.
He said, “There's a beautiful saying in our scriptures- धर्मो रक्षति रक्षितः- which translates to Dharma protects those who uphold it. So as an artist, its my job is honestly apprach my work with responsibility of hundered and billions of Indians and other cultures that are going witness this.”

Ramayana continues international outreach ahead of glimpse release
The New York interaction followed an earlier event in Los Angeles where director Nitesh Tiwari and producer Namit Malhotra presented the film’s first glimpse to a select audience. The makers also interacted with viewers and discussed the scale and intent behind the adaptation.
The film features Sai Pallavi as Sita, Yash as Ravana, Sunny Deol as Hanuman and Ravi Dubey as Lakshman.
Producer Namit Malhotra has confirmed that the first glimpse, currently screened for select audiences overseas, will be released publicly for viewers in India and across the world on April 2. The film is scheduled to arrive in cinemas during Diwali 2026.
