Rajkummar Rao has opened up about a significant change in the way he plans to approach his career going forward. Known for delivering acclaimed performances across films such as Stree, HIT: The First Case, and Srikanth, the actor has revealed that he now wants to slow down professionally and focus more on family life, meaningful choices and personal growth.
Speaking on The Right Angle with Sonal Kalra, Season 3, produced by Gautam Thakker Films, Rajkummar shared how fatherhood has reshaped his outlook and priorities. The actor spoke fondly about his daughter Parvati and how even mentioning her name brings instant joy.
“Whenever anyone talks to me about Parvati, it brings a big smile to my face. When my co-star once asked me my toddler’s name and I said Parvati, he pointed out how my smile instantly brightened. Everything has changed now. My motivation to work is driven by how she would feel about it and the kind of films she would like to watch when she grows up. I want to give her the time and freedom to do whatever she wants”, he said.
Rajkummar further revealed that he took a five-month break after Parvati’s birth, describing how difficult it was to resume work and be away from his child during shoots. He further added, “I took a five-month break when she was born, and then I had to leave for another film’s shoot. It was very tough because I wanted to be with her 24/7 and watch her grow up. I’ve now decided to take on less work than I did earlier. I plan to do only two films a year and be more selective. I want to push myself, and now there’s my mother, Patralekha, and Parvati, whom I want to make proud””
The actor’s candid remarks reflect a growing desire to maintain balance in an industry often driven by packed schedules and constant commitments. Rajkummar, who has built a reputation for versatility and choosing content-led cinema, now appears focused on quality over quantity.
Even as he slows down, Rajkummar continues to stay active on the professional front. His Netflix release Toaster, co-starring Sanya Malhotra, has been finding its audience, while he is also set to feature in Raftaar alongside Keerthy Suresh.
With this new chapter, Rajkummar Rao seems determined to create space for both career ambition and personal happiness — proving that success can also mean knowing when to pause.
