From PSY & BTS’ SUGA to BIG BANG – Round-up of Korean music releases in April 2022

SUHO – GREY SUIT

EXO’s leader SUHO’s new album was one of the most talked-about topics when it came to April 2022 music releases. SUHO kept his promise and delivered a second mini-album ‘Grey Suit’ with a title of the same name. The groovy R&B track echoes hints from his previous release. The lyrics which are co-written by SUHO are quite heartfelt.

ONEW – DICE

ONEW’s latest song ‘DICE’ is an interesting track. The music video has fantasy elements and a vibrant colour palette. His smooth vocals deliver the song with a sharp finesse. The techno and bass beats add in to the funky imagery in the song.

BIG BANG – STILL LIFE

BIG BANG has been gone from the scene for far too long. The group is one of the most iconic groups in the K-pop music scene. When the group announced that they will be releasing new music in April, the K-pop community could not keep calm. The quartet released the memorable ballad single ‘Still Life’. The song is written and composed by the members, and it feels like an ode to BIG BANG’s earlier days when the group was regularly releasing music.

GHOST9 – X-RAY

GHOST9 channels a gothic and horror-themed visual for X-Ray. The hip-hop and dance track feature an array of moments that displays the groups vocal capabilities. The red, black, white, and grey colour palette adds to the ‘danger’ and ‘mysterious’ vibe in the song.

DREAMCATCHER – MAISON

The girls appear in fantasy and post-apocalyptic music videos for MAISON. The song became so popular and fan favourite that it helped the group win their first music show as well. The electro and rock riffs in the track elevate the imagery that is presented in the track.

BE’O – LOVE ME

BE’O released a new track ‘Love Me’. The song is a cry for love and attention from one’s loved one. The track begins with soft riffs and progresses to an acoustic pop genre. The rapper brings his charm to this track. The chorus is fast-paced and perfect for a dance number.

BOL4 – SEOUL

BOL4 is back again to trap up the listener’s attention with the childlike vocals and smooth R&B indie music. The track ‘Seoul’ gives a sense of nostalgia with its soulful lyrics. The music progression ebbs and flows attuned to the lyrics, and together they make for a delightful track.

MIYEON ((G)-IDLE) – DRIVE

MIYEON casts a hopeful and beautiful spell with her solo debut track ‘Drive’. The singer’s sweet vocals enliven the atmosphere. The R&B music-laced techno beats make the song perfect for a road trip playlist or a movie soundtrack.

MOONBYUL (MAMAMOO) – C.I.T.T. (CHEESE IN THE TRAP)

Moonbyul is back with a funky dorky song with ‘Cheese in the Trap’. The rock guitar strums and energetic bass add in to the emotion of romance that she expresses so cutely. Moonbyul’s husky and deep voice gives a nice edge to the song.

PSY – That That (Prod. & Ft. SUGA of BTS)

The ‘Gangnam Style’ hitmaker PSY made a comeback after a long, long wait. The news of PSY’s comeback album sure garnered a lot of hype and attention. The title track ‘That That’ caught major attention as well because of BTS SUGA’s participation. The song is produced, co-arranged, and co-written by SUGA and he also appears in the funky cowboy era-inspired music video. SUGA’s rap verse is again hard-hitting and fact spilling. Fans of both PSY and BTS showered love and support for this one-of-a-kind collaboration.
