Producer Abhishek Agarwal on The Kashmir Files winning 2 National Awards, “I dedicate this film to the Kashmiri Pandits who believed in us and our storytelling”

Filmmaker Vivek Agnihotri and actress Pallavi Joshi also shared their reaction on The Kashmir Files' triumph at the National Awards.

The Kashmir Files, produced by Abhishek Agarwal Arts, Zee Studios and I am Buddha Production, won the Nargis Dutt Award for Best Feature Film on National Integration at the 69th National Film Awards 2023. It also won the Best Supporting Actress Award for Pallavi Joshi.

Speaking about the film’s achievement, producer Abhishek Agarwal shared, “I am elated with the honour bestowed on our film by the Jury of 69th National Film Awards 2023. The Kashmir Files was a special film with a strong message. I dedicate this award to Kashmiri Pandits and how their pain has been recognised all over the world, including the work of all actors and technicians.”

He added, “I dedicate this film to the Kashmiri Pandits who believed in us and our storytelling. They are the equal contributors in the making of The Kashmir Files and this Award, the recognition and the praises are as much as theirs as it's ours.”

The Kashmir Files is centred around the exodus of Kashmiri Hindus from Kashmir in the early 1990s. The film was directed by Vivek Agnihotri and produced by him, Tej Narayan Agarwal, Abhishek Agarwal and Pallavi Joshi.

Abhishek Agarwal is also known for producing the acclaimed and successful Telugu adventure movie Karthikeya 2. His forthcoming film is the keenly-awaited Pan-India movie Tiger Nageswara Rao starring Ravi Teja. It is slated for a theatrical release on October 20, 2023.

Speaking about The Kashmir Files’ triumph at the National Awards, Vivek Agnihotri said in a statement, “I am in America and I started receiving calls from my friends from where I came to know that The Kashmir Files has won the 69th National Film Awards in the category of National Integration Award. National Award is the prestigious award of India. Since starting I have been saying that The Kashmir Files is not my film and I was the only medium. This award I am dedicating on the behalf of our I am Buddha Production Company to all the victims of terrorists, especially to the Kashmiri Hindus and besides that, in the whole corner of the world the Hindus who are facing terrorism, and this film is their voice, their sufferings so it belongs to them.”

Pallavi Joshi added, “I am in Chicago right now for the promotion of our new film The Vaccine War. I am very happy about winning this award, of course, every actor will be happy but I am happier that our film won the 69th National Award in the category of Best National Integration because that is very important for us. I dedicate this award to the entire Kashmiri Pundit community and all the prosecuted community in the world who have suffered at the hands of the terrorism.”
