Preity Zinta took to Instagram on Monday and shared several new pictures from the 77^th Cannes Film Festival, which was recently held. She also praised the veteran cinematographer Santosh Sivan, calling him a “mad genius.”

In the post, Preity was seen posing with Santosh and several other artists on the red carpet. She was also seen presenting the prestigious Pierre Angenieux ExcelLens in cinematography to Santosh making him the first Asian to be presented with the award. As Santosh gave speech Preity was seen smiling and clapping for her dear friend .

Expressing her love and praise towards Santosh, Preity penned the post, "It was an absolute honour to present the prestigious Pierre Angenieux Award 2024 to the first Asian, the brilliant & super talented cinematographer Santosh Sivan ASC, ICS at the Cannes Film Festival. I had the pleasure & good fortune to work with him in Dil Se & now in Lahore 1947 & I cannot be more proud & happy for my dear friend & colleague. Santosh you mad genius, you deserve it all . More power to you & love you loads. Congratulations & most well deserved @sivan_santosh."

Preity’s recent appearance at Cannes 2024 set the internet abuzz, with her impeccable styling stealing the spotlight. Behind this glamorous transformation stood Leepakshi Ellawadi, a rising star in the styling realm, known for her artful touch and keen eye for elegance. For the film festival the actress wore a mesmerizing pink saree from designer Seema Gujral and paired it with exquisite jewellery from Chopard, while her white gown from Vivienna Lorikeet became a complete showstopper.

Preity and Santosh first collaborated in Mani Ratnam’s 1998 Dil Se where Santosh’s captured Preity’s debut performance. The actress will soon be returning to the silver screen with Rajkumar Santoshi’s Lahore 1947 alongside Sunny Deol, Shabana Azmi, Ali Fazal and Karan Deol. The film is produced under Aamir Khan’s banner and was officially announced last October.
