The festival of lights Diwali has now become a cause of concern for many as it involves the use of fireworks. These crackers cause massive pollution and the quality of air in many major cities like Mumbai and Delhi deteriorate sharply during Diwali. A lot of celebrities had openly written about it on Diwali in 2017 and even in the previous years.
Two such celebrities were Sonam Kapoor and Taapsee Pannu. Sonam in a tweet after Diwali had mentioned that she has developed bronchitis because of the dip in air quality and that she never had breathing problems in her life ever. But she got trolled massively when on New Year’s Eve when she posted a picture of fireworks show at the London skyline to wish everyone. Taapsee Pannu, on the other hand, emphasized that people should spend their money and efforts on gorging on food rather than bursting crackers. She, while wishing everyone for New Year, posted a selfie featuring a bursting rocket in the backdrop. As a result, a section of netizens came down heavily on these two actresses for their hypocrisy. A few of them also brought out the religion card and accused them of being harsh on Hindu festivals while being lenient over New Year festivities, which is more of a western concept. It was a popular parody account, going by the name of Sir Ravindra Jadeja, who did the expose that went viral in no time.
Now it remains to be seen if Taapsee Pannu and Sonam Kapoor respond to the reactions coming for their doublespeak.
????Diwali Crackers Cause Pollution, New Year Crackers Give Oxygen And Purifies Air
????Diwali Crackers Cause “Bronchitis”, New Year Crackers Are So “Exciting”
????#Diwali Crackers Are Communal, New Year Crackers Are Secular
If Hypocrisy Is An Art, Bollywood Celebs Are Picasso Of It???? pic.twitter.com/LcYDKGAii6
