Actor Prateik Smita Patil and his wife Priya Banerjee have stirred a conversation online after making blunt remarks about relationships in the film industry. The couple also addressed the criticism they faced after Prateik’s father Raj Babbar was not invited to their wedding.
During a chat with Miss Malini, the couple was asked about the criticism that followed their wedding. While Priya appeared unbothered by the noise, Prateik hinted that the issue is deeper than what has been assumed on social media. “People don't know the truth. Some people from the industry know the truth, some don't and the general public...” Prateik said, adding that he may speak about it in detail in the future. “But one day, everyone will get to learn the truth. In a story, or a book, or an interview, or a film.”
Apart from the wedding discussion, the couple also made headlines for their comments on the reality of marriages in the film industry. Priya claimed that many Bollywood marriages are not as genuine as they appear publicly. “90 per cent of the Bollywood marriages are a facade, and I know that because I am on the inside,” she said. Prateik agreed with her statement and simply added, “It shows.” Prateik further criticised how infidelity is often treated casually, saying such behaviour should not be normalised. “I think cheating, infidelity, multiple partners, it's out of fashion. It's not cool. Having a wife and a girlfriend is not cool,” he said.
He also pointed out how people in the industry sometimes brush off serious issues, referencing Twinkle Khanna’s remark on her talk show. “If married people are saying 'raat gayi baat gayi', you know what the situation is,” Prateik added. The couple’s strong comments have now triggered a debate online, with many reacting to their blunt take on Bollywood relationships and the wedding controversy that continues to follow them.
