Veteran actor Paresh Rawal has joined the growing chorus of praise for Aditya Dhar’s blockbuster Dhurandhar, expressing admiration for the film’s scale and success—and even revealing that he wishes he had been a part of the franchise.
The spy thriller, headlined by Ranveer Singh, has been enjoying a phenomenal run at the box office, breaking records and drawing massive audiences worldwide. Amid this success, Paresh Rawal shared his candid thoughts, calling the film much more than just a cinematic outing.
Speaking about both installments, he said, "Dekhi, Dhurandhar 1 and 2 dekhi, part 1 do baar dekhi, dusri ek baar dekhi, vapas dekhne jaana hai. Mujhe hona chahiye tha ismein (I have watched both parts, watched part 1 twice and part 2 once, and I want to watch it again. I should have been a part of the film)."
He went on to add, "I liked Dhurandhar a lot; it’s not just a film but a saga. For the first time, I felt I should have been part of it. Zindagi main pehli baar mujhe laga main hota ismein toh maza aata (For the first time in my life, I felt that it would have been fun if I had been in it)."
Paresh Rawal also reflected on his earlier role as NSA Govind Bhardwaj in Uri: The Surgical Strike, a character inspired by Ajit Doval. He addressed comparisons between his portrayal and R. Madhavan’s role in Dhurandhar, noting how interesting it was to see different interpretations of a similar personality. Reacting to a social media comparison, he humorously remarked, “Yes didn’t smoke but only broke the phones (laughter emoji).”
The Dhurandhar franchise, featuring a strong ensemble cast including Akshaye Khanna, Arjun Rampal, and Sanjay Dutt, has set new benchmarks at the global box office. While the first installment reportedly earned ₹1,300 crore worldwide, its sequel has surpassed expectations by crossing ₹1,500 crore within just three weeks, outperforming several major blockbusters.
As Dhurandhar continues its record-breaking journey, Paresh Rawal’s heartfelt admission reflects the film’s widespread impact—even among some of the industry’s most celebrated talents.
