Rishi Kapoor has made a massive contribution to Indian cinema and has made a place in the hearts of millions of people across the globe with his effortless and charming performance. The actor passed away in 2020 after battling cancer for two years. In his last months, he was shooting for the film Sharmaji Namkeen. Unfortunately, he passed away before he could complete the film. It was actor Paresh Rawal who then came on board to complete the film by playing the role that was being essayed by Rishi Kapoor. The film is now ready for release and the makers dropped the trailer of the film earlier today.

At the beginning of the trailer, the makers have revealed that both Paresh and Rishi will be seen playing the same role in the film. While two different actors are seen playing Sharmaji, Paresh Rawal has managed to match the essence of the character with that played by Rishi Kapoor.

After the release of the trailer, fans showered love on Rishi Kapoor and Paresh Rawal as well. Responding to a Twitter user who praised Paresh Rawal for completing the film, Paresh said, "It’s my tribute to Rishi ji . Super actor and a superb human being”.

Meanwhile, ahead of the release of the film, Rishi Kapoor's son Ranbir Kapoor shared a heartwarming message for his fans. The young actor revealed that his father, a man so full of life and positivity, wished to complete the film at all costs despite his health deteriorating. Ranbir remembers his father with a phrase saying, “You must have heard ‘The show must go on’, but I’ve seen Papa live his life.” The talented actor also added that “Sharmaji Namkeen will always be my one of the most fondest memories of my father. Up on screen, bringing a smile to his countless fans,” before urging viewers to shower their love for the film like they always did for Rishi Kapoor and requesting them to watch the film’s trailer that releases tomorrow.

Directed by Hitesh Bhatia and produced by Ritesh Sidhwani and Farhan Akhtar under the banner of Excel Entertainment in association with Honey Trehan and Abhishek Chaubey of MacGuffin Pictures, Sharmaji Namkeen will premiere on Prime Video across 240 countries and territories worldwide on March 31.
