Last week we finally saw the release of Deepak Shivdasani’s film Julie 2. After much turmoil the film which was presented by the now ex- CBFC chief Pahlaj Nihalani opened to a less than appreciative response from the audience and critics alike. In fact, the dismal box office collections of the film stand as a ratification of the unacceptance Julie 2 faced.
But away from the box office, the maker of the film Deepak Shivdasani, who is credited as the writer, director and producer of the film released a statement claiming that he is unable to pay the due remuneration to various personnel who have worked on the film. Taking to the social networking site, Facebook, Shivdasani came clean about the film’s box office debacle and took full responsibility for its failure.
If that wasn’t enough, Deepak also talked about the hurdle he now faces to remunerate those who have worked on the film. Read on to know what Shivdasani had to say
“Good afternoon to All,
Don’t know how or what strength gives me to write this but need to speak out
Yes, my film title ‘Deepak Shivdasani’s Julie 2’ which released on 24th November all over India and many parts of the world has failed at the Box Office… I stand fully responsible as a writer producer director for its content & making.
I need to genuinely from the bottom of my heart Thank each & every technician/vendor/direct-indirectly connected/well-wishers /friends for all their prayers all through till release.
I know I owe monies to technician & vendors… which I promise to pay in time to all… I hope those I owe understand & be patient for a little while.
let me say it’s very easy today to make a film, but extremely difficult to release… in our best of capacity & total honesty my brother in Christ Vijay Nair & I gave our utmost best & all that we had, in spite of the many challenges we faced we didn’t compromise in making right to the release.
Through this subject, our protagonist Julie extremely well performed by LAKSHMI RAAI Our core intent was to let the INDIAN cinema audience know who CHRIST is in a commercial cinema.
Glamour/songs/ were mere tools for the front benchers. God is our witness to our intention.
I sincerely thank my partner’s wife Shiela and family and of course my beloved wife ESTHER both who are a pillar of strength in this hour of financial crisis.
This message is not to gain sympathy or consolation in any way from anyone of you but I seek prayers and blessings for both Vijay & myself to regroup and stand again, to think ahead & be positive that tomorrow is another day… the sun will shine again , to learn from the past for a better tomorrow to come
Loads of love to ALL.
