The Akshay Kumar-starrer OMG 2 has crossed the Rs 100 crore mark at the box office, despite being released with an adult rating by the Central Board of Film Certification (CBFC). The film, which deals with the sensitive topic of sex education, had to undergo several modifications before it was granted a censor certificate.
OMG 2 director Amit Rai reveals the Akshay Kumar starrer will be released uncut on OTT; says, “The public has seen…”Director Amit Rai has said that he is happy that the film has been well-received by the audience, despite the challenges it faced in getting released. He has also revealed that the uncut version of the film will be released on OTT platforms.
"We were heartbroken because we made the film for everyone to watch, now that cannot happen," Rai said in an interview with PTI. "We begged them to give us a U/A certificate (children below 12 years of age can watch a film under parental guidance) but they didn't. We tried to convince them till the very end... But then they walked some distance, we walked some distance. The film has been released with modifications."
Rai said that he is confident that the uncut version of the film will also be well-received by the audience. "We have decided that we will show the original film (on streaming), a film that the censor never wanted people to see, but... The public has seen the film and given their verdict. If the censor board doesn't understand it, what do we say?"
OMG 2 has also been praised by critics for its sensitive handling of the topic of sex education. The film has been called "thought-provoking" and "important" by many reviewers.
