With November arriving, the Diabetes Awareness Month in the US kicks in. Singer Nick Jonas, in a note on Instagram, opened up on being diagnosed with Type 1 diabetes at a rather young age, and shared how he has been living it with for 14 long years now. Given Nick's active lifestyle and hectic schedules, this might come across as a surprise to many, but he says his illness taught him to take care of himself.
'14 years ago this month I was diagnosed with Type 1 diabetes. This experience has shaped how I approach my health - working out, eating well, and always thinking about my blood sugar and insulin needs. You can't always see what goes into managing an invisible illness, and Type 1 diabetes can feel lonely and isolating,' he wrote.
In 2015, Nick also co-founded Beyond Type 1, a non-profit organisation that unites the diabetes community globally and brings together research, fundraising programmes and inspirational stories. Apart from Nick, the other founders are Juliet De Baubigny, Sarah Lucas and Sam Tablot.
Nick's post of course had fans pouring best wishes, but received a special comment from wife Priyanka Chopra too. 'So proud of you love,' she wrote.
Priyanka, in an earlier interview, also said that her husband was living the biggest life possible and the illness couldn't restrict himself from anything.
