Murder Mubarak trailer launch: Karisma Kapoor gets embarrassed as she claims that Kareena didn’t star in 36 China Town; also reacts to the success Dil To Pagal Hai’s release; calls Shah Rukh Khan-starrer “ahead of its times”

en Bollywood News Murder Mubarak trailer launch: Karisma Kapoor gets embarrassed as she claims that Kareena didn’t star in 36 China Town; also reacts to the success Dil To Pagal Hai’s release; calls Shah Rukh Khan-starrer “ahead of its times”

The trailer of Murder Mubarak was launched at an interesting event in central Mumbai at a venue that was in sync with the film’s mood. The event was graced by the lead actors of the film – Karisma Kapoor, Sara Ali Khan, Vijay Verma, Pankaj Tripathi, Tisca Chopra, Sanjay Kapoor and Suhail Nayyar – as well as producer Dinesh Vijan and director Homi Adajania. One of the highlights of the event was Karisma forgetting about a film that her sister Kareena Kapoor Khan had acted in and she very cutely apologizing for her faux pas.

During the question-and-answer session, Karisma Kapoor was asked that the trailer of the film and the theme of a gambling club and murder gives a déjà vu of 36 China Town (2006). This Abbas-Mustan directorial starred Kareena Kapoor Khan, Shahid Kapoor, Akshaye Khanna, Isha Koppikar and Paresh Rawal, among others.

Karisma seemed confused when the question was being asked to her. She, at first said, “I am not sure whether Kareena was in this movie.” Her co-actors then reminded her that Kareena indeed featured in 36 China Town. A visibly embarrassed Karisma Kapoor laughed as she stated, “She was? Oh, I am sorry guys, I have not watched it!” She then added, “I have not watched 36 China Town. So, I can’t really comment on it. But Murder Mubarak is very different.”

Dinesh Vijan then took over and remarked that Murder Mubarak is adapted from Anuja Chauhan’s book ‘Club You To Death’ and that there are no similarities with 36 China Town, “I can assure you that this film is written as a book. You are more than welcome to get the book. There’s no similarity between any film. I feel that it’s the most original murder mystery coming out of India. You’ll not find a scene that has been copied from anywhere. That I can assure you.”

Karisma Kapoor later on was asked about the re-release of her 1997 cult classic, Dil To Pagal Hai, and how it continues to draw audiences even today. Karisma smiled as she exulted, “Dil To Pagal Hai was ahead of its times. And I am so glad the audience still enjoys that film. It was a special one for me.”

Bollywood Hungama, in February, reported that during the re-release season, Dil To Pagal Hai, which also starred Shah Rukh Khan and Madhuri Dixit, collected Rs. 13.09 lakhs in cinemas. The number is decent, considering that the film has widely been consumed on digital and television.
