Madhuri Dixit, admired for her expressive acting and graceful dance performances, recently spoke about one of her earliest experiences on stage while promoting her upcoming series Mrs Deshpande. The actress shared that a childhood performance once took an unexpected turn when the audience reacted negatively.
Madhuri recalls her early Kathak days
In a conversation on ANI’s podcast, Madhuri revealed that she had been learning Kathak since the age of three and often performed with her sisters. She remembered one particular performance at IIT Bombay’s Mood Indigo festival, which became chaotic just 15 minutes after it began.
She said, “By the time we were about 15 minutes into the show, they were booing and throwing things, like little rockets, onto the stage. I got a little scared, but my sister said, ‘No, we’ve got to stand our ground, and you’ve got to go on.’ And we performed.”
Madhuri added that she was around 10 or 12 years old at the time and that the hall was full. She and her sister continued performing for an hour and a half, eventually winning over the crowd despite the difficult start.

Although the makers have not shared many details about the plot, the first look has already created excitement. Mrs Deshpande is produced by Applause Entertainment in association with Kukunoor Movies and directed by Nagesh Kukunoor. The show will stream soon on JioCinema.
