In the era of saas-bahu sagas, Jassi Jaisi Koi Nahin introduced a unique role of Jassi, bespectacled, simple, but ‘not so good looking’ as per society standards girl, who is smart, intelligent, and independent. The character won hearts when she got a makeover, the world was waiting to see how the actress looked in real life. And that’s how Mona Singh was introduced on the beloved show and since then there has been no looking back for the actress. While she credits all her success and fame that followed to the show, Mona Singh opened up about quitting it.

In the interaction, Mona Singh revealed that the makers were keen on introducing a leap in the show which would have required her to play a mother, because of which she decided to quit. “When the original story ended that was - Jassi and Armaan got married and they had a child. It ends. But here the story never ends because it's the flagbearer of the channel and it's getting all sponsors and the ratings are still sky high. So what do you do? You want to stretch a little more," she recalled while talking to Hauterfly and continued, "I remember having a meeting with them and they said, 'Let's take a leap and show the kid grown-up.' ‘I was like I am myself a kid. what grown-up kid will you show?’ I said, 'I opt out of it. I am not going to do this.' I said, 'I have full faith in myself that I will get work.' I said, 'I am not going to feel insecure and do this for 5-7 years. I am not doing it.' I said, 'Let's end it' and the show ended."

Further talking about the impact the show had, Mona Singh added, “It has been 20 years and it was my first role and I'm still remembered, still loved. People still ask is there a season 2? I'm like 'Hello, the first wasn't a season 1'. The show has ended.”

Mona Singh has not only dabbled with television and films, but the actress has also left an impact on OTT with web shows like Kehne Ko Humsafar Hai and recently won hearts in the popular web series Made In Heaven 2.
