Mission Majnu trailer launch: Rashmika Mandanna speaks on playing visually impaired woman; recalls undergoing “intense training” : Bollywood News

Set against the backdrop of the India-Pakistan war of 1971, Sidharth Malhotra and Rashmika Mandanna’s upcoming film, Mission Majnu’s trailer has been finally released on Monday. While Sid plays a spy in the film, Rashmika’s character is visually impaired. At the Mission Majnu trailer launch event of the film, Rashmika recalled undergoing “intense training” for her character.

Recalling the prep for the film, Rashmika asserted, “I went to a two-three week intense training which was very scary to say because I remember initially I had to start with just uh blindfolding myself and I reached to a point where I could make like Aloo sabzi without looking. There was a tennis ball thrown at me and I had to close my eyes and catch it. I had to count my steps in and out of the place I was training. This went on for almost two-three weeks. That was quite hard and intense.

Elaborating further, she added, “But I realised that when one of your senses is taken away all your other senses just heightened. While shooting I also had to figure out a way which was comfortable for me to maintain the character throughout the film.”

Mandanna also recalled shooting for the film before the nationwide lockdown. While stating that she was “nervous” on the first day as she was shooting for a Hindi film for the first time, she said that they were quick to complete the Lucknow schedule. Meanwhile, Sid also briefly spoke about how he prepared himself for his “first film” in which he is essaying the role of a spy.

Helmed by Shantanu Bagchi and jointly produced by Ronnie Screwvala, Garima Mehta, Amar Butala, Mission Majnu is slated to release on Netflix. The forthcoming Hindi film will premiere on the streaming giant on January 20.
