Meenakshi Seshadri, once among the most celebrated and highest-paid actresses, recently opened up about her close bond with the late actor Rishi Kapoor and expressed her deep gratitude for his support. Their on-screen pairing, particularly in films like Damini, received high acclaim and showcased their remarkable chemistry. As she gears up for her return to Hindi cinema after several decades, Meenakshi reflected fondly on her relationship with Rishi Kapoor.

In a new interview with Zoom, Meenakshi Seshadri shared how Rishi Kapoor helped her create a Twitter account. “Rishi ji was that person with whom I shared 100 percent comfort and could ask him what if I wanted to make a comeback. When I started my Twitter account, I asked Rishi to help me and pass on some of his followers to me, and he obliged,” she revealed. She added that Rishi Kapoor never questioned her, and she remains grateful for his support. Meenakshi praised Rishi Kapoor for his warm and welcoming nature, recalling how he made people feel at home. She spent time with him and his wife, Neetu Kapoor, at their residence and often visited them informally, living nearby in Pali Hill.

She also recounted a funny memory about Rishi Kapoor's reaction to her classical dance routines. "He used to say, ‘Kabhi kabhi tumhara dance mujhe samajh nahi aata. Tumhara Bharatanatyam kam karo’ (Sometimes, I don’t understand your dance. You should perform it less often),” Meenakshi recalled with a smile. For those who may not know, Meenakshi Seshadri is a skilled classical dancer, trained in Bharatnatyam, Kuchipudi, Odissi, and Kathak.

Meenakshi Seshadri rose to fame with the 1983 film Hero, opposite then-newcomer Jackie Shroff, which catapulted them to stardom. She went on to appear in a string of successful films such as Dacait, Ghar Ho To Aisa, Shahenshah, Damini, Ghayal, and Aadmi Khilona Hai. As she looks forward to her return to Hindi cinema, her fond memories of Rishi Kapoor continue to inspire and motivate her.
