While the trailer of Rani Mukerji’s Mardaani 2 garnered accolades from all corners, it also claimed that the film was based on true events, therefore resulting in controversies. One of the sequences also had a reference to Rajasthan’s Kota. The makers shortly got down to tackling the situation, and announced that both were going to be removed from the trailer.
However, the film has still run into a legal trouble as Gopal Manda, a local corporator, has reportedly sent a legal notice to CBFC chief Prasoon Joshi, asking him to do the necessary so that the name of Kota is removed from the film as it hampers the reputation of the city. Reportedly, the notice also warns one that no screenings of Mardaani 2 will be allowed until the change is done, and the matter might be taken to the High Court if necessary. The demand, we hear, also comes in existence since a large number of students come to the city every year to train for various competitive examinations.
The trailer had made a reference of a criminal who serially raped and murdered young women.
The makers are yet to respond on the same.
