Well, just recently, we had reported that the makers of Manikarnika – The Queen Of Jhansi decided to reshoot some portions of the film. While the 45 days allotted for completing the schedule is nearing its end, the makers have decided to give everyone a sneak peek into the historical journey of Rani Laxmibai. The teaser of the Kangana Ranaut starrer is expected to release next week, on October 2, which is celebrated as Gandhi Jayanti.
A source close to the development confirmed the development saying, “The teaser of Manikarnika – The Queen Of Jhansi will be released on Gandhi Jayanti – a day when we celebrate the indomitable spirit of freedom fighters like Mahatma Gandhi. Rani Laxmi Bai has been one of the first, fiercest warrior queens, who fought for independence against the British army – the makers felt this would be the apt day to launch the teaser of the film that captures the historic life story of Rani Lakshmi Bai.”
With Jissu Sengupta playing the role of her onscreen husband and king, Gangadhar Rao, the film stars Ankita Lokhande in the role of Jhalkarbai. The film is expected to trace the journey of Rani Laxmibai from her rebellious childhood days to her days as the warrior queen who played an integral role in the 1857 revolt against the British Army. The film also stars Zeeshan Ayub, who replaced Sonu Sood after the latter quit the film, in a pivotal role.
Produced by Zee Studios and Kamal Jain, Manikarnika-The Queen Of Jhansi, directed by Radha Krishna Jagarlamudi, is slated to release on January 25, 2019. The trailer release date of the film is yet to be officially announced. The film is expected to clash with other releases which include the Hrithik Roshan starrer Super 30, Nawazuddin Siddiqui starrer Thackeray and Emraan Hashmi starrer Cheat India.
