The makers of Governor, starring Manoj Bajpayee, are set to host a special screening today for qualified chartered accountants and their families, ahead of the film’s worldwide theatrical release on June 12, 2026. Approximately 200 CAs are expected to attend the event along with their families.
The screening follows a recently held special trailer launch organised for administrative students, at which attendees expressed appreciation for the film’s subject and acknowledged the significance of the story being brought to screen for a generation less familiar with the events depicted.
Set against the backdrop of the 1991 financial crisis, Governor revisits a defining moment in India’s economic history when the country faced the prospect of a major financial collapse.
Bajpayee portrays the RBI Governor, a figure tasked with making consequential decisions under acute pressure, whose actions ultimately shaped the nation’s economic direction.
Directed by Chinmay Mandlekar and produced by Vipul Amrutlal Shah under Sunshine Pictures, Governor is co-produced by Aashin A. Shah. The screenplay is credited to Suvendu Bhattacharyjee, Saurabh Bharat, Ravi Asrani, and Vipul Amrutlal Shah. Lyrics are by Javed Akhtar, with music composed by Amit Trivedi. The film releases in cinemas on June 12, 2026.
