Looking at my year: Bollywood’s A-Listers on the year that was

Preity Zinta

Bollywood's A-listers on the year gone by and their expectations from 2011...

Preity Zinta: "Quite frankly I went through one of the most awful years of my life. I fought several court cases. I fought slander. And I fought a battle in my family when someone very close to me went through a crisis. I don't know how I managed to come out of it. But I did. Because I am a fighter. I always have been. Am I stronger because of the knocks I got in 2010? I don't know. My chin is still taking the blows. But my dimples are intact. I am hoping to get out of my troubles in 2011. And back to doing what I am best at. Acting."

Govinda
Govinda: "I've gotten so used to the setbacks I am scared of good times. 2010 was like every year. Maybe slightly better because I got to work with the great Mani Ratnam. Who would've known that Raavan would not live up to expectations? I can't say I am looking forward to leaving my troubles behind in 2011. That would be unrealistic, going by my track record. I've two films ready for release. I am hoping to do some good work. And yes, I hope my daughter Narmada gets a good launch in 2011."

Akshay Kumar

Looking at my year: Bollywood’s A-Listers on the year that was

Akshay Kumar: "I had four releases in 2010. Two of them were hits. The third was average at the box-office. And the fourth was a wash-out. Not bad, huh? Personally, I am happy to be with my beautiful wife Twinkle. Being at home with my family gave me greater joy in 2010 than being in the studios. My son Aarav is growing up well, touchwood. In 2011, I hope to do some good work. I also hope to see more children take to outdoor sports and stop spending so much time playing video games at home."

Katrina Kaif
Katrina Kaif: "I had a good year, no complaints. My role in Raajneeti got me critical reaction. 'Sheila Ki Jawani' got me all the 'ceetees'. My films did well. I worked hard to get the steps right in 'Sheila Ki Jawani'. In real life too I've to watch my steps. Believe me; dancing doesn't come easily to me. But then nothing comes easy to me. I've always battled to get what I wanted. In 2011, I hope to work on my reputation as an actress. At the moment, I'm in a position where I am asked to name the actresses who could get nominated for the best actress. That I could be eligible doesn't strike me. I hope it soon does."

Sunil Shetty
Sunil Shetty: "A lot of health setbacks in the family, including my own. Now I hope I've left it all behind. In 2011, my daughter goes to college in New York. Like any father I am anxious. Luckily, I've loads of good friends in New York. Professionally, I am keeping a low profile. No more marginal roles for me. I don't need to do them."

Neil Nitin Mukesh

Neil Nitin Mukesh: "The high points for me in 2010 were the release of Lafangey Parindey, my nephew's first stage performance in school and my best friend Bhavik's wedding. 2011 will see me working a lot harder. I want be professionally and emotionally stronger. Looking forward to Saat Khoon Maaf and Players."

Juhi Chawla: "My brother's illness totally shook me in 2010. I was devastated. I've slowly got back my strength. I am at present visiting Swami Nrithyanand Ji's ashram near Bangalore. The consciousness of life forces and energies unseen by the naked eye is hopefully going to change my attitude forever, and for the best."

Urmila Matondkar
Urmila Matondkar: "The low point was losing my aunt to cancer. The highpoint of 2010 was my visit to Turkey. I want to visit Greece and Spain extensively in 2011. I also started learning to play the guitar in 2010. I hope to play it decently in 2011."

Raveena Tandon: "What may seem trivial to others were high points of my life in 2010. My son won a silver medal on sports day. My daughter played a teddybear in her annual day play. I went to my old school for old girls' reunion. Yes, there were lows during the year when people I trusted let me down. Hota hai. Move on. That's life. I am looking forward to two things in 2011. Moving in my new home and Kasab's sentencing."

Dino Morea
Dino Morea: "Not too many highs in 2010 except for figuring out the production for my film company's first film. Looking forward to my first production in 2011."

Tusshar Kapoor: "High point was Golmaal3. I signed a Rajshri production. Low point? None, really!"
