The very name of Sudha Menon may not ring a bell, but she is a known name amidst the rich and famous. The reason? Well, she is the one who acted as a 'platform' for the 'movers and shakers' parents to pour their hearts out to their daughters in the book 'Legacy', which she has authored.

While the book is about a rare collection of personal and evocative letters by eminent personalities (read 'fathers') of India, which they have written to their daughters, two of the letters have been written by daughters to their fathers. These two daughters are Deepika Padukone and Nandita Das. Bollywood Hungama presents to you excerpts of their heartfelt letters:

"For many years, while I was still in school, I never realized why my classmates and even teachers would say you were their idol. Being interrupted by strangers seeking your autograph when we dined out in a restaurant was part of our life, even if I never knew why they did it. That is how humble you are. You never expected to be treated as a celebrity and never made us feel like celebrity kids. In fact, now, for the little bit that I have achieved, you continue to treat me just like you always did-like your little daughter."

"In a world where there is so much emphasis on success and money and strategies for growth, I am glad I grew up in a home where money was not the measure of success. When we were growing up, you always told us to have our own dreams for ourselves, figure out what kind of human beings we wanted to be, and what our relationship would be with the rest of the world. You have set the bar for idealism very high, Baba, at a time when idealism is almost a bad word in society. But I know today that if I have been able to keep my feet firmly on the ground, my head on my shoulders, and my heart in its right place, then it has a lot to do with my upbringing. I am glad you continue to be my conscience."
