The five-day fashion extravaganza, Lakme Fashion Week Winter Festive 2018 has begun with signature fervour and a generous dollop of Bollywood chutzpah at St. Regis today. Turning showstopper for designer Urvashi Joneja was the petite actress Rhea Chakraborty who had us swooning over her stunning avatar. This 38th season that aims to support new talent and introduce inclusive platforms all whilst addressing the insatiable fashion palate of its loyalists, brings the best of both beauty and fashion to the fore. Rhea played muse to designer Urvashi Joneja as she showcased her collection titled ‘AWAY’. Urvashi’s clothing line focuses majorly on celebrating the essence of women who have shattered the glass ceiling. ‘AWAY’ showcased the idea of “power dressing gets a feminine twist with intricate geometric and graphic prints juxtaposed with applique and embroidery”.
Speaking on her choice of Rhea as a showstopper, Urvashi mused, “Being the classic girl-next-door, Rhea is someone every girl can relate to easily. She completely resonates the ideology of a self-made girl who’s gone beyond the norms to achieve great success. She represents the modern, independent girl and I couldn’t have asked for a better muse to showcase this collection.” On the other hand, Rhea gushes about the designer, “I’ve always admired Urvashi’s take on empowering silhouettes for women of all shapes and sizes along with her intricate detailing. Since this season’s collection ‘AWAY’ takes its’ inspiration from the concept of breaking free, it perfectly resonates with my belief of self-liberation.”
