Kubbra Sait, who made waves, with her performance in Sacred Games (2018) and then also appeared in Saif Ali Khan-starrer Jawaani Jaaneman (2020), Apple TV+'s international show Foundation (2021), Shahid Kapoor’s web series Farzi (2023) etc., released her autobiography last year named 'Open Book: Not Quite A Memoir'. In the book, she opened up about several aspects of her life like her childhood memories, how she got a break in Bollywood, relationships etc. At the very beginning, she talked about her horrifying experience during her first-ever trip to the Maldives.
Kubbra wrote that she was once asked to host the sangeet function in Maldives. The to-be groom’s mother approached her and she and the actress spoke about the money to be paid and flight tickets. Kubbra didn’t discuss accommodation as she felt that it was a given that she would be provided with a single occupancy room.
However, on the flight to Maldives, the to-be groom’s mother informed Kubbra Sait that since it’s her son’s second wedding, they are on a tight budget. And as a result, Kubbra and the rest of the entertainers were asked to stay on a boat. Though the client assured her that the boat will have all the facilities, Kubbra sternly told her, “The only vessel you’ll find me on is this one. Please get me a hotel room, or I’m happy to tail right back to where I came from.”
The mother was startled by Kubbra’s reaction. The event management official tried to persuade the actress but she stood her ground. With no other option, a room was arranged for her in the resort where the sangeet function was to take place. As luck would have it, Kubbra Sait was accommodated in an $800 plush suite. She also mentioned that she became the talk of the resort and word spread that she created a scene. Kubbra, however, mentioned that she was nonchalant.
After doing her hosting duties, the party began. Kubbra mentioned that at this point, the sangeet function turned into an ‘adult striptease show’. She remarked, “The dancing girls with their thirsty tongues licked their lips as they allowed their blouses to be stuffed with money.”
And to her shock, Kubbra suddenly realized someone splashed a drink on her back. She wrote, “An elderly gentleman thought it was a sexy move to throw a glass of champagne on me to gain my attention.” An angry Kubbra Sait threw his glass on the floor and warned him, “The next time you try a trick like this, I’ll break this glass and shove it up your a**.”
