The eighth season of ‘Koffee With Karan’ is currently streaming on Disney+ Hotstar and is the talk of the town thanks to the star power and entertainment quotient. The show began in 2004 and it was a time when social media was non-existent. The actors spoke a lot of stuff that raised controversies, especially during the much-loved rapid-fire segment. Seeing these videos is an experience in itself as in today’s times, actors are too cautious to make such statements. Karan Johar spoke about this aspect at the press conference of ‘Koffee With Karan 8’ which was held on December 4 at a five-star hotel in Mumbai.

Karan Johar began by saying, “We tried finding a replacement for rapid fire. Celebs are much more worried now than they were in the first three seasons. Nobody wants a PR nightmare. Everyone is so careful that you have to make sure to change the language of the rapid fire so that at least, you’ll get something. There were times when actors answered with abandon to questions like ‘most overrated actor’. Answers would just flow. Today, I wouldn’t answer those. How can I expect them to?”

Karan Johar further said, “We are always living in a very sensitive climate. Social media has made us so much sensitized to sensitivity. Everyone is so sensitive about what they are saying and what they are expected to say etc. I don’t want fan clubs to get angry. Eventually, it’s a talk show that’s meant for fun. Who wants the downside? These celebs come on my show for their absolute love for me. I have to protect that. Agar aapne ghar mein mehmaan ko bulaya, you don’t want them to go back with a bad stomach! They should go back thinking ‘We were well taken care of’.”
