KGF – Chapter 2 star Sanjay Dutt says he cried for 2-3 hours after cancer diagnosis: ‘I was thinking of my children and wife’

Sanjay Dutt's life has been marked by numerous ups and downs, and the actor has never shied away from discussing them. Recently, the KGF – Chapter 2 actor opened up about his cancer diagnosis, admitting that he cried for several hours following the news. The actor was getting treated for the same before he returned to the sets of Yash starrer to shoot the film. The actor plays the role of antagonist Adheera.

KGF – Chapter 2 star Sanjay Dutt says he cried for 2-3 hours after cancer diagnosis: ‘I was thinking of my children and wife’

In a conversation with Ranveer Allahbadia, Sanjay Dutt discussed his cancer diagnosis and was heartbroken upon hearing the news during lockdown. “It was my typical lockdown day,” he explained. “As I walked up the stairs, I was completely out of breath. I took a bath and found myself unable to breathe. Uncertain of what was wrong, I called my doctor. On the X-ray, more than half of my lungs were covered in water. They were required to drain the water. They all hoped it was tuberculosis (TB), but it was cancer. It was difficult for me to accept it. I was on the verge of shattering someone's face.”

He continued, “As a result, when my sister arrived, I was thinking, 'Okay, I've been diagnosed with cancer; what now?' Then you start planning this, we're going to do this and that... However, I cried for two to three hours because I was thinking about my children, my life, my wife, and everything else, and then these flashes came and I declared, "I'm going to stop becoming weak." We initially sought treatment in the United States, but when my visa application was denied, I stated, ‘I'll do it here.’”

Sanjay then revealed how his family came up with a treatment plan for him, as well as how actor Hrithik Roshan's filmmaker father RakeshRoshan referred Sanjay to a doctor. “They warned me that I would lose hair and vomit, so I told the doctor ‘mereko kuch nahi hoga,’ I am not going to lose hair, I am not going to vomit, and I am not going to lie on the bed’ and she smiled. I completed my chemotherapy, and upon returning home, I sat on my bike for an hour and cycled, as I did every day. That was something I did following each chemo session (session). It was insane; I used to travel to Dubai for chemo and then spend two or three hours on the badminton court.”

"That is the manner in which you will put this thing to the test. I've been going to the gym for two months and have lost a significant amount of weight, regained my muscle mass, and am regaining my former self. ‘Do you recall Sanjay Dutt? I yearn to be that Sanjay Dutt once more.’ I allowed myself to go, and now I will not," he explained.

Sanjay Dutt currently stars in Yash starrer KGF – Chapter 2 that has crossed Rs. 100 crore mark in Hindi belt in India. The actor will next star in Shamshera.
