Karan Johar reveals he is ‘unapologetic’ about launching star kids; says, “May be I’ve the access to that something why should I not leverage it”

Karan Johar recently reacted to people dragging his name in the nepotism debate and maintained that he prefers to take the high road.

Karan Johar, who has launched actors like Alia Bhatt and Varun Dhawan, has been accused of nepotism by many. The filmmaker, who has launched star kids, opened up about the decade-long debate and has maintained that he is unapologetic for launching star kids and also expressed his immense love for Alia Bhatt, whom he considers his own daughter. In a long statement, the filmmaker also opened up about how Dharma has about 1000 people working under his banner, out of which most of them are not a part of the industry.

In an interview with Mid-Day, Karan Johar broached the topic of nepotism and about accusations about him launching star kids by saying, “I haven’t and I will not apologize for anything. I will cast who I feel is right. If that person happens to be related to somebody in the industry then so be it.” He went on to express his love for his SOTY actress, Alia Bhatt, who he has always considered as one of his own, as he continued, “Alia is like my first child. I will always love her in public in person and she will always be part of my life and you can keep saying things, you can call me what you want."

He further added, "All the names you want eventually that negativity is eating that person up, not me. I’m rising above, I’ve taken the high road and when you take the high road in life, you cannot change the way of your being because of what people say. I have always done what my heart believes in. My mum has taught me if you weren’t the right, you believe you weren’t the right then how can anyone make a difference”.

“Maybe I’ve seen something, Maybe I’ve the access to that something why should I not leverage it,” he concluded. In the interaction, Karan Johar also referred to the several employees who work under the Dharma banner as well as in Dharmatic and DCA agencies and maintained about how most of them don’t belong to the industry but contribute majorly in the world of cinema as well as the production house.
