Karan Johar, known for his unapologetic honesty and candid takes, recently made a surprising confession that left many amused and a few shocked. Despite being a familiar face at some of the most lavish and high-profile weddings in the country, the filmmaker revealed that he has never eaten at a wedding, admitting that the experience makes him uncomfortable.
Johar, who is currently awaiting the release of his upcoming production Tu Meri Main Tera Main Tera Tu Meri starring Kartik Aaryan and Ananya Panday, opened up about this peculiar habit during a candid conversation on The Manyavar Shaadi Show. The episode featured newlyweds Kriti Kharbanda and Pulkit Samrat, and the discussion soon turned to wedding rituals and food.
When Johar asked the couple about their wedding non-negotiables, both instantly replied, “Good food,” setting the stage for his unexpected admission. Sharing his thoughts, Johar said, “I have never eaten at a wedding,” leaving Kriti visibly surprised. He further explained, “These long queues and standing in line for food… I also feel very awkward standing with a plate and eating. I never eat at weddings.”
The revelation added a humorous contrast to the couple’s love for food. Kriti went on to share a personal detail about Pulkit, revealing that he is affectionately called ‘Annapurna’ at home a Sanskrit term that translates to the giver of food. She added that Pulkit’s fondness for feeding people was one of the qualities that drew her towards him.
Kriti Kharbanda and Pulkit Samrat tied the knot on March 15, 2024, in an intimate ceremony held at ITC Grand Bharat in Manesar, Haryana, attended by close friends and family. The couple first met on the sets of the 2018 film Veerey Ki Wedding and began dating a year later. Sharing their wedding pictures, they wrote, “From the deep blue sky, to the morning dew… Constantly, consistently, continually, You.”
For the special day, Kriti wore a soft pink bridal lehenga by Anamika Khanna, while Pulkit complemented her look in a mint green sherwani by the same designer.
