Dhurandhar recorded housefull shows across several centres in Jammu & Kashmir, including smaller towns such as Shopian and Pulwama, where regular theatrical exhibition has remained limited. The strong audience turnout in these areas points to a growing interest in cinema-going and suggests renewed demand for big-screen experiences in the region.
The film’s performance has been supported by Citara, a multiplex chain operating small-format theatres across Jammu & Kashmir. With seating capacities of around 100 to 150 seats, these cinemas offer an accessible and affordable viewing option in regions where large multiplex infrastructure was absent.
In towns like Shopian and Pulwama, where multiplexes do not operate, Dhurandhar has maintained healthy occupancies throughout its run. Industry observers note that these smaller theatres are addressing a gap in exhibition rather than competing with large multiplex chains, catering specifically to local audience needs.
India continues to remain significantly underscreened, especially outside metro cities. While multiplex-led expansion has driven screen growth over the past decade, larger seating capacities and premium pricing has impacted occupancy levels in several markets. As a result, smaller theatres with lower operating costs and limited seating are increasingly emerging as a sustainable exhibition model in Tier 2 and Tier 3 cities.
