Karan Johar is hitting back at trolls who targeted the opening episode of Koffee With Karan Season 8, featuring real-life couple Deepika Padukone and Ranveer Singh. The episode, deemed by Karan as one of the most honest and heartfelt, faced harsh criticism with speculations about the couple's marriage.

In a conversation with Aditya Roy Kapur and Arjun Kapoor, Karan expressed his frustration, stating, “I think all three of us came clean on so much of our emotional heft, so many of our feelings, and then there was a ridiculous kind of aftereffect.” He further revealed his anger at the reaction, defending the episode's authenticity and the couple's openness. He further added, “I thought it was one of our best episodes. They were outstandingly honest, they were earnest, they spoke so much, they shared so much, they were so gracious and then you f**king talk about some nonsense. I’m like what do you know about somebody’s personal life and marriage. Tu apne ghar pe dekh na (Look inside your house) is what I wanted to tell all of them. I wanted to show them my f**king middle finger.”

The controversial episode featured Deepika and Ranveer discussing the initial stages of their relationship, highlighting their openness and lack of exclusivity in the early days. Despite trolls questioning their marriage, the couple has been happily married for five years.

Koffee With Karan Season 8 episodes are brewing only on Disney+ Hotstar.
