en Bollywood News Kapil Sharma says his controversial tweet from 2016 cost him Rs. 9 lakhs; says “I want to sue Twitter”

Kapil Sharma is one of the biggest comedians of India and ruled the television screens for years with The Kapil Sharma Show. Now, Kapil is gearing for his OTT debut with his first stand-up special titled I'm Not Done Yet which will be streamed on Netflix later this month.

Kapil Sharma says his controversial tweet from 2016 cost him Rs. 9 lakhs; says “I want to sue Twitter”

In the introduction video of his stand-up special, Kapil said that the special is his story being told in his way. The comedian promised that the audience will witness a lot of things in the stand-up special.

Later, Kapil shared a snippet from his stand-up in which he referred to his controversial tweet of 2016 to Prime Minister Narendra Modi. He accepted that the tweet was made in the middle of the night in a drunk state. "I left for the Maldives instantly, I lived there for 8-9 days. The moment I reached Maldives, I asked them for a room with no internet. They asked, ‘Have you got married?’ I replied, ‘No, I just tweeted.’ My stay cost me Rs 9 lakhs, which I didn’t even spend on my education. That one line cost me that much,” he revealed and added, “I want to sue Twitter.”

He also said that just the way Twitter attaches the warning of ‘manipulated Tweet’ to tweets of some politicians, the microblogging site should have attached the warning of ‘Drunk Tweet. Please ignore’ to his tweet. He concluded by saying that while he is responsible for some of his tweetes, others are the results of liquor brands.

Kapil's controversial tweet from 2016 read, "I am paying Rs 15 cr income tax from last 5-year n still i have to pay 5 lacs bribe to BMC office for making my office @narendramodi.”

Kapil Sharma's stand-up titled I'm Not Done Yet will start streaming on Netflix from January 28.
