Kangana Ranaut recently addressed her ongoing feud with actor Sonu Sood in a conversation on Subhankar Mishra's YouTube podcast. The actress clarified her stance on friendships in the industry and explained her perspective on working with people with differing ideologies.
Kangana candidly said, “It’s not important that we become friends with everyone we meet. You only make so many friends. Those who are upset with me should stay upset with me.”
This statement came in response to Sonu Sood's earlier remarks, where he had expressed his disappointment with Kangana’s actions. He had said, “People can say whatever they want, but I will never say anything against them. I might feel upset thinking, ‘This person was a good friend and said such things’. I feel that it’s her foolishness, she is not a bad person. But sometimes, when you write or say things, you don’t actually think it through.” He further added, “No, we have never even spoken to each other after Manikarnika.”
Kangana also opened up about working with people who hold different ideologies, stressing that personal opinions shouldn’t interfere with professional life. She shared, “Of course. What type of question is this? So many actors I have worked with come from different ideologies.” She continued, “Even if I don’t like a person, I can work with them because I am not the authority on that person’s character. I can’t pass judgment on them.”
The actress also touched upon her relationship with fellow actor Swara Bhasker. “Of course we can work together,” Kangana stated, referring to her past collaborations with Swara. “Back then, too, her ideology was different. Woh hamesha communism aur socialism ko leke uske ideas set pe bhi chalte the (She would talk about communism and socialism on set too). I have never formed a perception about an actor, or any person based on their interviews. This privilege is with leftists, not with us.”
Kangana Ranaut is currently seen in Emergency, a significant project for her as it marks her solo directorial debut and serves as a crucial test of her box office appeal after five years without a major hit.
The film explores the 21-month Emergency period declared by former Prime Minister Indira Gandhi between 1975 and 1977, a time often considered one of the darkest in India's history. In the film, Kangana portrays Indira Gandhi, with Anupam Kher playing Jayaprakash Narayan, Shreyas Talpade as Atal Bihari Vajpayee, Mahima Chaudhry as Pupul Jayakar, Milind Soman as Field Marshal Sam Manekshaw, and Vishak Nair as Sanjay Gandhi.
