Kamal Sadanah opens up about seeing his father shoot his mother and sister; says, “I had to carry my mother and my sister to the hospital while they were bleeding”

During the same incident, he also revealed that his father shot him and died by suicide and how in one day, he lost his entire family.

Best known for the film, Bekhudi, Kamal Sadanah who has been a known face in Bollywood, recalled his experience of witnessing his entire family die in one night. For the unversed, his father Brij Sadanah is expected to have shot Kamal’s mother Sayeeda Khan, sister Namrata, and also Kamal, along with himself on the night of the actor’s 20th birthday. However, while the actor survived, he couldn’t save his family.

Remembering the haunting memories of the night, Kamal also revealed that his father took this step under the influence of alcohol. Speaking about the same to Siddharth Kanan, Kamal Sadanah said, "It is traumatic. To see your family being killed in front of your eyes. I was also shot. I had a bullet go from one side of my neck and come out from the other side. I have survived that. There is no logical reason for me to survive. It's almost as (if) the bullet dodged every nerve and came out from the other side. And I survived without any problems. No physical problems."

He also went on to reveal about how he himself was not aware that he was shot as he more focused on keeping his mother and sister alive. "I had to carry my mother and my sister to the hospital while they were bleeding. At that time, I did not know that I was also shot. The doctor asked, ‘Why is there so much blood on your shirt?' I said, ‘No, it must be from my mother or sister. He said, ‘No, you have been shot. We don't have enough places over here. You have to go to another hospital.' I was like, ‘No, you just keep my mother and sister alive. And I was also trying to check on my father what he was going to be doing at that point," Kamal added.

During the interaction, Kamal also confessed that the incident had left him so scarred that he had stopped celebrating his birthday until recently. He revealed during the interview that he has started to host small parties along with close ones and family including his kids, as he is trying to cope with the trauma.
