Recently, during the Jagran Film Festival in Delhi, the talented actress was asked about the issue of pay parity in Bollywood, and her response shed light on the need for change.

Kajol expressed that discussions about pay parity should only come to the forefront once India starts producing and celebrating big-scale women-led films that achieve the same level of success as male-led blockbusters like Pathaan. Referring to Shah Rukh Khan's Pathaan, which emerged as the highest domestic grosser in Hindi cinema, earning over Rs 543 crore nett in India, she highlighted the significance of women-led projects achieving similar box office success.

The Salaam Venky actress asserted, “India is progressing…They watch a lot of different types of cinema thanks to social media and OTT. We are thinking better and hoping for better. When you start making a Wonder Woman for India and it does equally well as a Pathaan, then maybe there will be pay equality.”

Readers may recall that the discussions around pay parity started in India after Priyanka Chopra, in an interview with Film Companion, revealed that she received equal pay for the first time in her career only for Citadel. Later, many actresses including Deepika Padukone and Jaya Bachchan shared their thoughts on the issue.
