In a recent teaser for casting director Mukesh Chhabra's upcoming podcast series on Mashable India, filmmaker Kabir Khan sheds light on the casting process for the blockbuster film Ek Tha Tiger. While Salman Khan was readily considered for the lead role of Tiger, casting his co-star Katrina Kaif as Zoya presented an unexpected hurdle.
Khan revealed that the casting took place during a period when Salman and Katrina had recently gone through a breakup, making them "not that comfortable" working together. In the promo, Kabir asserted, “This was the stage where they had broken up and they weren’t that comfortable.”
The podcast series, titled "Casting Couch with Mukesh," promises to delve into the fascinating world of film casting. Featuring conversations with renowned directors like Farah Khan, Imtiaz Ali, and Raj & DK, the series aims to unveil untold stories and insights from the casting process of popular movies and web shows.
The teaser also highlights interesting anecdotes from other directors. Imtiaz Ali discussed the initial challenges faced by Alia Bhatt during the filming of Highway, while Farah Khan reveals the casting difficulties for the negative role in Main Hoon Na, eventually played by Suniel Shetty.
Coming back to Kabir Khan, the director is currently busy with his upcoming directorial, Chandu Champion. The film stars Kartik Aaryan in the lead. Readers may recall that Bollywood Hungama was the first to report that Shraddha Kapoor will be seen playing the female lead opposite Kartik. It is slated to release on June 14 this year.
Meanwhile, Mukesh Chhabra is set to make his acting debut in the upcoming musical thriller Chamak.
